4 Signs of a Leaking UST
All owners and operators should recognize these warning signs of an UST release!
- Product can be smelled or is visible on water near facility
- Neighbors complain of vapors in their basements or about water tasting/smelling of petroleum
- Slow dispensing or erratic equipment behavior reported
- Leak detection monitor results indicates lost product
If you suspect that a release has occurred, you must take steps to stop further product from being released. Then, you should immediately notify the regulatory agency. In most cases, a suspected release must be reported within 24 hours.
